Kin Members serve the community pancakes at the City of Nanaimo Winterfest for the fifth year.

What better way to enjoy the cold than with some hot food? In this case, breakfast! We've all been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and what better way to spend breakfast than by feeding others? The Kinsmen Cub of Nanaimo, along with the family of club president El. Martel, served 600 pancakes and sausages to 308 people attending the City of Nanaimo Winterfest.

Winterfest occurs every year during the holidays, providing free skating and other events to Nanaimo residents. 5 years ago, the Kin Club of Nanaimo was asked to serve pancakes, sausages and beverages at the Winterfest event. El. Martel (current president of the Nanaimo Kin Club) was joined by 3 of his children and 3 grandchildren to prepare and serve breakfast for the four hour event. It is a great example of Kin and their families taking time to serve their communities, even over the holiday's when things are incredibly busy for most.
