Darcy Millar
Governor
I joined the Campbell River Kinsmen Club in February 2016. The next Kin year I became the Membership Director and I have been every year now except for the 3 years that I was the President of our Club. I was Deputy Governor for the Island Zone in 2023 to 2024 and Vice Governor in 2024 to 2025.
When I joined I was very shy and couldn’t imagine standing in front of a group of people talking. Kinsmen really has given me a lot of personal growth. It started slowly for me as the membership director talking for a quick few minutes at every meeting and then as president I obviously had to talk a lot more at meetings. This is where I really grew and it gave me the confidence to go to the next level which is Deputy Governor.
These roles on the District Team over the last 3 years have helped me to learn more about Kin Canada and how things run as well as to meet even more of my fellow Kin. I’m so glad that I made the decision to join Kinsmen not only for the personal growth that it has given me but also for all the friends that I have made through it and of course the greatest reward is knowing what I have done with this organization to help make my community a better place. We have raised lots of money and helped lots of people and it’s a great feeling to be able to help those that need it.
